Languages

Here at Sneinton, amongst the many languages spoken within our school community, all our children have the opportunity to learn French. Due to its importance as a global language, we believe learning French plays a key role in supporting our children in their knowledge of the world and appreciating the diversity of other countries and cultures. We are also proud of our commitment to the teaching and learning of global citizenship values  which are widely explored across our school curriculum.

Throughout their journey through school, children will be exposed to authentic materials, books and engaging activities to support their ability to apply the four language skills and retain core vocabulary. Additionally, we aim to give them the experience of enhanced learning as a result of the opportunities provided by the digital curriculum to explore and apply knowledge. At Sneinton, our Languages provision develops our children’s linguistic skills by making links with the English curriculum and promotes our students being leaders of their own learning through comparing grammatical structures, linking learning to authentic books. We strive to deliver a ‘World French’ curriculum which stretches their perceptions of language learning and the representation of French speakers.
