PE & Sports Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve PE, physical activity and sporting opportunities for children.
At Sneinton St. Stephen's, we use this funding to help children be active, develop their skills and experience a broad range of sports and physical activities.
How we use the funding
In 2025–26, Sneinton St. Stephen's received £17,820 in PE and Sport Premium funding.
The funding supported:
- free extracurricular sport and physical activity
- additional swimming and water-safety provision
- participation in external sports competitions
- PE equipment and resources
- active travel and wider opportunities for children to be physically active
- memberships and subscriptions that support our wider PE and sporting provision.
We also targeted opportunities to increase participation for girls and disadvantaged children, including extracurricular activities, competitions and pupil leadership opportunities.
Our evaluation found that the funding had a positive impact on children's participation, physical activity and PE attainment, as well as supporting a broader range of sporting opportunities.
Swimming & Water Safety
Swimming and water safety are important life skills. We provide swimming as part of our PE curriculum and use additional PE and Sport Premium funding to provide further opportunities for children to develop their confidence, swimming ability and water-safety skills.
At the end of 2025–26, our Year 6 outcomes were:
68% could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over 25 metres.
74% could use a range of strokes effectively.
77% could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Our additional swimming provision had a positive impact on swimming and water-safety attainment, and we will continue to work to improve these outcomes.
