At Sneinton St. Stephen's, the safety and wellbeing of every child is paramount.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All staff, governors and volunteers have a role in creating a safe and caring environment, recognising when a child may need help and acting promptly when there is a concern.
We take a child-centred approach, listening to children and working closely with families and other professionals to provide the right help at the right time. Our safeguarding practice follows statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children and local safeguarding arrangements.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) have specific responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school.

There is always a member of our safeguarding team available during the school day.
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please speak to a member of our safeguarding team.
You do not need to be certain that something is wrong to share a concern.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999.
If you are concerned about a child who lives in Nottingham City, you can also contact the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0115 876 4800.

Our safeguarding policies and documents explain how we protect children, respond to concerns, provide early help and work in partnership with families and other agencies.
The Prevent Duty forms part of our wider safeguarding responsibilities. It requires schools to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.
At Sneinton St. Stephen's, this sits within our wider approach to safeguarding, education and early support. Through strong relationships, an inclusive curriculum and appropriate staff training, we help children develop the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe.
