Apple Distinguished School
Sneinton St. Stephen's Digital Journey
We’re pleased to be recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2024–2027 for inspiring, imagining, and impacting teaching and learning school-wide through continuous innovation.
The video below shows how we use technology to help our children to go into the world as safe digital citizens, creators not consumers:
Through technology, we aim to:
Inspire
Everyone at Sneinton Primary is part of the digital vision, which is owned by children and staff alike. We aim to 'develop a passion for lifelong learning, exploring life in all its fullness, with hope and aspiration, through a world-class education', a vision which is realised through our use of technology. Teachers and students alike see themselves as digital citizens who are creators, not just consumers of technology. Sneinton has always been a pioneer school; the success of our 1:1 program has encouraged and facilitated the development of Trust-wide 1:1 adoption.
Imagine
Our curriculum is designed so that all children have the opportunity to see how their digital work communicates to an audience. Much work is published on our student website, and each class' creative digital work is categorised by using a 'digital outcome' curriculum, with four key themes: technology to persuade, inform, entertain, and discuss. Real-world purpose enables children to feel they are having an impact, and they have a choice over how this is digitally produced before publication. They understand their ideas are important and influential, and have some agency over the content and outcome too.

Impact
As evidenced by external recognition, our commitment to every child's flourishing means that accessibility is embedded in the heart of our 1:1 program, leading to passion and the ability to continue lifelong learning as set out in our vision. Student digital leaders are trained to teach others to adjust the settings on their iPads to facilitate individualised learning, supported by deep knowledge from our research-informed teaching team. Our students have international connections, and have blazed a trail in equality; two-thirds of our student digital leaders are female, a statistic that is not reflected globally.
